My Favorite Comics (Part 1) I would like you to discover French and Belgian comics I like. I’ll begin with comics I liked when I was a child. When I was a child, my mother was desperate because she wanted to make me read books but I didn’t like that. We went to bookshops and a seller advised me some books but I was very difficult: “A story about a girl whose parents divorce?” “Oh, nope, please…”, “A story about murders in a monastery?” “Oh, yes!”, but finally I didn’t like the book :D I only read comics. One of the first comics I read was “Tom-Tom and Nana”, a famous comic for kids in France. The graphics were sometimes not very good. But I’m attached to this comic because it reminds me my childhood. I loved “Boule and Bill”, a Belgian comic by Roba from the sixties about a little boy and his cocker spaniel. I read every comic strip book several times per year. “Boule and Bill” is a classic of the Franco-Belgian comics. This comic shows a typical French family of the sixties which lives in a little and nice home and has a 2CV as car. I read “Les Triplés” about a “BCBG” triplets and their mother. When I was young, I met the draftswoman but she wasn’t very nice. I wasn’t very attracted by “Astérix” but I tried and I loved it. I remember: one day, I said to myself « Well, let’s try Astérix ! ». It was the winter and I put my bare feet on the radiator to warm them. I began with “Astérix and The Great Divide” and then, I read several volumes in one afternoon. I was fall in love with Astérix! Of course, I was a fan of Tintin but who doesn’t love Tintin? I loved “Nathalie” too, a comic about a young girl who dreamt to travel all around the world. When I was eleven, I drew a few comics but it wasn’t very good :D I drew a comic about a couple of adventurers which captured Ben Laden. They infiltrated by wearing burqa :D It was a kind of mix between Indiana Jones, Tintin and the humor of Astérix! In the picture : a strip of Boule and Bill.

My Favorite Comics (Part 1)

I would like you to discover French and Belgian comics (that) I like. I’ll begin with comics (that) I liked when I was a child. When I was a child, my mother was desperate because she wanted to make me read books, but I didn’t like that. We went to bookshops and a seller advised me some books, but I was very difficult {or "finicky"}: “A story about a girl whose parents divorce?” “Oh, nope, please…”, “A story about murders in a monastery?” “Oh, yes!”, but finally ultimately* {or "in the end"}, I didn’t like the book :D I only read comics.

One of the first comics I read was “Tom-Tom and Nana”, a famous comic (strip) for kids in France. The graphics were sometimes not very good. But I’m attached to this comic because it reminds me my childhood. I loved “Boule and Bill”, a Belgian comic by Roba from the sixties about a little boy and his cocker spaniel. I read every comic strip book several times per a year. “Boule and Bill” is a classic of the Franco-Belgian comics. This comic shows a typical French family of the sixties which that lives in a little and nice home and has a 2CV as car. I read “Les Triplés” about a “BCBG” {~"well-heeled"} triplets and their mother. When I was young, I met the draftswoman, but she wasn’t very nice.

I wasn’t very attracted by “Astérix” but I tried it and I loved it. I remember: one day, I said to myself « Well, let’s try Astérix ! »**. It was the winter and I put my bare feet on the radiator to warm them. I began with “Astérix and The Great Divide” and then, I read several volumes in one afternoon. I was had fallen in love with Astérix! Of course, I was a fan of Tintin but who doesn’t love Tintin? I loved “Nathalie” too, a comic about a young girl who dreamt to of traveling all around the world.

When I was eleven, I drew a few comics but it wasn’t very good :D I drew a comic about a couple of adventurers which who captured Bin Laden. They infiltrated by wearing burqas :D It was a kind of mix between Indiana Jones, Tintin and the humor of Astérix!

In the picture : a strip of Boule and Bill.

*"Finally" has the connotation, "at last", i.e. "Spring has finally come." (Spring has come at last.) So to mean, at the conclusion or end, "ultimately" is used here.

**We don't really use guillemets in English, we just use quotation marks: I said to myself, "Well, let’s try Astérix!"

My Favorite Comics (Part 1)

I would like you to discover the French and Belgian comics I like. I’ll begin with comics I liked when I was a child. When I was a child, my mother was desperate because she wanted to make me read books but I didn’t like to. We went to bookshops and a seller recommended some books to me, but I was very difficult: “A story about a girl whose parents divorce?” “Oh, nope, please…”, “A story about murders in a monastery?” “Oh, yes!”, but ultimately I didn’t like the book :D I only read comics.

One of the first comics I read was “Tom-Tom and Nana”, a famous comic for kids in France. The art was sometimes not very good (We use "graphics" for things done on the computer, like video games and special effects. When we're talking about comics, we say "art" or "drawing", etc.). But I’m attached to this comic because it reminds me of my childhood. I loved “Boule and Bill”, a Belgian comic by Roba from the sixties about a little boy and his cocker spaniel. I read every comic strip book several times per year. “Boule and Bill” is a classic of the Franco-Belgian comics. This comic shows a typical French family of/in the sixties which lives in a nice little (This is actually kind of an expression in English, and is always in this order!) home and has a 2CV as car. I read “Les Triplés” about a “BCBG” triplets and their mother. When I was young, I met the artist (In English, drafters work on things like blueprints) but she wasn’t very nice.

I wasn’t very attracted to “Astérix” but I tried and I loved it. I remember one day, I said to myself "Well, let’s try Astérix !(If a sentence ends with a quotation, the whole sentence ends with the punctuation mark of the quotation. I've never liked that as a rule, but that's the rule. Haha) It was the winter and I put my bare feet on the radiator to warm them. I began with “Astérix and The Great Divide” and then I read several volumes in one afternoon. I was falling in love with Astérix! Of course, I was a fan of Tintin but who doesn’t love Tintin? I loved “Nathalie” too, a comic about a young girl who dreamt of traveling all around the world.

When I was eleven, I drew a few comics, but they weren't very good :D I drew a comic about a couple of adventurers who captured Bin Laden. They infiltrated by wearing burqas :D It was a kind of mix between Indiana Jones, Tintin and the humor of Astérix!

In the picture : a strip of Boule and Bill.
