A dog friendly bus. Hong Kong rules :)

Hong Kong has launched a new bus service that allows pets owners to take their dogs with them. I love that initiative and, as since I have a German shepherd called named Lara that I adore, I am totally enthusiastic about it even if I'm not living in China. But I hope that it could be a starting point for an upcoming changement in all other countries.
Actually, in Italy, taxis are too expensive and dogs are not allowed on the public transport facilities such as trains-buses-metros are forbidden to dogs. There are only a few exceptions for small size dogs. I have a car, fortunately, but when I'm in Milan I always move use public transports and I really don't know how what I would have done if Lara was there with me.
I think that pets are an important part of our life, they're a part of our families as they daily give us love and respect. The same respect is due to them. (^suggestion: We owe them the same respect.)
Do you agree? How is the situation for pets in your country?
