IELTS TASK 1: Chart 18: Fast Foods. Thanks a million for helps in advance.

The bar chart provides information on the amount of money spent (per person weekly) on the three kinds of fast foods and the line chart shows the fluctuation of consumption of those fast foods over a twenty-year period.

According to the bar chart, the amount of money spent on fast foods is different depending on each group's income. A closer examination of the bar chart indicates that the spending on hamburgers was greater in the high income group with 42 pence per person weekly, followed by pizza and fish and chips at 19 and 17 pence respectively. While hamburgers were the priority of the middle-earning group, in contrast to those with high income, the amount of money spent on fish and chips was greater than that on pizza (25 compared to 11 pence). The low-income earners spent less money on fast food where the greatest proportion of money spent on fast foods went towards fish and chips (16 pence).

The line chart presents the changes in consumption of those fast foods (in grammes) from 1970 to 1990. The amount of hamburgers and pizza consumed rose considerably from 90g and 30g respectively in 1970 to more than 530g and 270g in 1990, while that of fish and chips dropped significantly from 300g in 1970 to 230g in 1990.

In short, the popularity of hamburgers had increased (how? by how much?) by the year 1990, whereas the amount of consumption of both pizza and fish and chips was nearly the same in that year. Additionally, the high-salary earners spent more money on fast foods than the two other groups.

I'll just give some extra tips:

- see if you can find an exercise on participles and participle phrases. Notice how I corrected spent and depending in the first sentence.

- respectively comes after the comparison.

- there were a couple of errors with the and prepositions, but you did well with rephrasing the information.

- try to use some adverbs to describe the degree of change: marginally, dramatically, etc. There are verbs which can give the same feeling: soared, rocketed, plummeted, slipped, petered out...

You're doing well... I can see your improvement. :) When is the exam?
