[The teachers] replied, "This is the sweat of the dogs. It does not come out from the skin but from its tongue." Notes: Here is another category in which each character means the same thing but used as a compound. The example here is皮膚. Mandarin particularly likes to have such redundancy. In true classical Chinese, one character usually suffices.
