IELTS TASK 1: Chart 19. Households in The UK The table below provides information about the percentage of households’ owners over a sixteen-year period in the UK. The table shows that the percentage of consuming households included in the table trend to increase. The most popular household owned in 1972 was television (93%) with a slight increase in the percentage of consumers by 4% in 1983, followed by vacuum cleaner with 87% users in 1972 and an 8% rise in 1983.It can be seen that the percentage of refrigerators’ and washing machines’ owners (73% and 66% respectively) experienced a 20% surge by 1983. The biggest change in percentages of households’ users was belonged to telephone and central heating where there was a 30% rise in the percentages by 1983 (77% and 64% in 1983 in contrast to 42% and 37% in 1983 respectively). It seems that the popularity of dishwashers emerged in 1978 where only 3% of people owned them and there was a 2% increase in the percentage of users by 1983. The only household which started to be owned lately was videos where 18% of Britain people were owned them in 1983. In short, the percentage of most households’ owners trend to rise in the UK which shows British people’s lifestyle is going to change towards being more comfortable.

The most popular household appliance owned in 1972 was the television (93%), with a slight increase in the percentage of 4% in 1983, followed by vacuum cleaners, with 87% of households in 1972 and an 8% rise in 1983. It can be seen that the percentage of refrigerators’ and washing machines’ owners (73% and 66% respectively) experienced a 20% surge by 1983.
