Mistakes in a Foreign Language When you learn a foreign language, you need to practice as soon as you know a few phrases. Of course, you often freeze up while talking with a native speaker because you cannot remember a right word or phrase. Your vocabulary is far from wide… You are lost quite often because it is still difficult to rephrase your thought. I am glad that I can laugh at the mistakes I make. Why should I be nervous or be down if a native speaker does not understand me and asks what I meant by this and that? I have made so many funny mistakes in English and Russian in my life that my friends and I could write a book about them. I should have written down my mistakes immediately when I made them. I would recall them quickly now, and when I get together with my friends we could talk and joke about them. I do not mind laughing at myself. P.S.: Recently I have mixed two (similar for me) words: “ripe” and “rape”. My friend was laughing hard when I said that I like “rape nectarines”.

Mistakes in a Foreign Language

When you learn a foreign language, you need to practice as soon as you know a few phrases. Of course, you often freeze up while talking with a native speaker because you cannot remember a the right words or phrases. Your vocabulary is far from perfect wide… You are lost lose your way quite often because it is still difficult to rephrase your thoughts.

I am glad that I can laugh at about the mistakes I make. Why should I be nervous or be down if a native speaker does not understand me and asks what I meant by this and or that?

I have made so many funny mistakes in English and Russian in my life that my friends and I could write a book about them. I should have written down my mistakes immediately when I made them, I could then recall them quickly now, and when I get together with my friends we could talk and joke about them. I do not mind laughing at myself.

P.S.: Recently I have mixed up two (similar for me) words: “ripe” and “rape”. My friend was laughing hard when I said that I like “rape nectarines”.
