Learning a language like a child... Reading the questions about French, looking at the corrections from others... I thought : why don't we learn a new language like a child learn his mother tongue ? My daughter is 3. Of course, she doesn't know writting yet but she speaks very well... How ? First, she memorize complete sentences she heard, use them again and again in different situations, sometimes well, sometimes not..., and when she really understood it, she was able to modify a word or to adapt it to an other situation. I'm not saying that grammar or spelling are not important (moreover in French !) but just... stop focusing on them and try, dare ! The most important is to be understood...

Learning a language like a child...

Reading the questions about French, looking at the corrections from others... I thought: why don't we learn a new language like a child learns his mother tongue?

My daughter is 3three. Of course, she doesn't know writting yet but she speaks very well... How? First, she memorizes complete sentences she heard, uses them again and again in different situations, sometimes well, sometimes not..., and when she really understood it, she was able to modify a word or to adapt it to an other situation.

I'm not saying that grammar or spelling are not important (moreover moreso in French!) but just... stop focusing on them and try, dare! The most important is to be understood...

General notes:

-There is no space before punctuation marks like colons (:), question marks or exclamation point, unlike in French.

-Numbers less than ten are written out in English.
