Translating Russian books....

Almost everyday I ask myself "How are people able to translate Russian books into other languages?" When I was in school, I was sometimes too lazy to read the works of our greatest Russian writers. Often I found the book uninteresting or the book was too long and I was afraid to take it on. =) The most difficult thing for me was composition. In Russia we write essays on the literature when we finish studying a book. It is assigned to us either as homework or class work. My mother is really good at writing compositions so she helped me occasionally. Of course, my teacher could tell that it is was not my composition =) Now I am 25 and I have started to read more because I find satisfaction in it. Our Russian language is so rich and I am proud of it. We can say the same sentence in different ways using different words because we have a huge vocabulary. That is why sometimes I don't know the meaning of a word in a book because it is impossible, I think, to know all Russian words. Turning back to the question of translating Russian books, I imagine that it must be very difficult to convey the Russian writing style to the foreigners. I hope you understand what I mean....

Reading books....
