A few tips for bearings
Bearing performance is very important for keeping a machine in good condition. Very often they can bring equipment to an unscheduled halt. Bearings should be properly aligned and protected from extreme temperatures, moisture, and contaminants. In the food industry, problems caused by extreme moisture occur constantly because everything must be kept clean. Even still, contaminants and other small pieces always remain. The next level of problems is environmental. A very aggressive environment can destroy bearings earlier, and for this we must use/make preventitive control settings.
Some very important tips for keeping equipment in good condition are:
- Follow service manual guidelines (when available) for lubrication and replacement
- Use quality bearings made in Germany rather than cheap ones from China or Poland
- Use the original tools specifically designed for mounting bearings
- Follow recommended fitting practices for bearings as described in their general catalogs. (expressed in ISO standards)
- Keep the bearings and shaft housing free from chips, dirt, and moisture.
- Train maintenance operators on bearing maintenance requirements and procedures
- Remember to lubricate the bearings properly (Use the right type and quantity of grease for all department production)
- Maintain a higher level of bearing condition by using diagnostic techniques such as vibration analysis
I hope you don't mind that I provided a correction and I hope I have not changed the meaning of anything you were trying to say. For lists of actions in a technical document such as this, it's a good practice to begin each sentence with a verb in the present tense (i.e. Use, Keep, Follow etc.) These are some things I learned while working in a commercial vehicle manufacturing environment.
