Music: for Appreciation

Recently I'm reading the book "Music: for Appreciation" by Roger Kamien. To a beginner like me who knows little about musical knowledge, this book is rather difficult yet very helpful. I turned to classic music because i had an expectation i would find I find myself expecting something deep, serious, profound and philosophical, which  the  nowadays rock and pop seem's  never to give. It is a A very great challenge for me is the musical terminology, some of which are is  too hard to understand without any music  a musical instrument. :(:(:( I'm determined to learn piano or cello in the near future~~
