1st Notebook on Italki!
Hi Italki-ers!
I'm usingthis 1st written notebook entry to talk a little bit about myself (and hope I won't fall into the typical, pretentious narcissistic biography!)
Here-we-go.
I'm a Moroccan (more by nationality than anything else, I'm currently trying to learn Moroccan and Arabic) twenty yea- old girl, who used to live in France.
Advertisement: If someone needs help in French or want to meet me to chat or something else (I can't see anything else), I'll gladly help you!
I'm majoring in BA in an American University called Al Akhawayn, in Morocco. I love studying in general, but I get annoyed when the course isn't something new, and taught in a monotone voice.
I'm basically on italki to speak English. I need to get over my French pronunciation, and try to learn more vocabulary by speaking to someone who talks American English (Well, I have nothing against British English, just, I'm not used to it... this is my chance to try!!!).
I've already tried to speak with other people via Skype, Kik Messenger, Facebook, online games (yeah, them, too), but when they ask for video cam or even just a phone call, I begin to stress and over-think about it as if I were passing an exam!
I don't feel comfortable speaking to international students, or if I try, I forget all of my words...
For instance, I didn't choose a professor from italki because I don't know which one of the two teaching categories (Community or Professional) would be the most suitable for me. So I'm also asking for your guidance, help, and kindness to help me bloom just like the most colorful flower !
Thank you for reading this until the end, and I wish you a very, very, very nice Morning/Evening.
Goal : Speaking fluently the American English
I'm <em>taking advantage</em> of this <em>first</em> Notebook <em>entry</em> to <em>write</em> a little bit <em>about</em> myself. <em>I</em> hope<em> that I</em> <em>will not</em> fall <em>into</em> the typical pretentious narcissistic biography.
I'm a Moroccan national, <em>and </em>I'm <em>learning</em> Moroccan and Arabic. <em>I'm</em> <em>a </em>twenty year old girl <em>and I</em> used to live in France. If someone needs help in French, or want to meet me <em>online </em>for some chat, I'll gladly help you. I'm <em>majoring</em> <em>in</em> <em>business administration</em> <em>in Morocco</em> at an American<em> university</em> called <em>"Al Akhawayn."</em> <em>In general, I love studying, except when the course isn't new to me or taught by a professor who has a monotone voice.</em>
I'm <em>using</em> <em>iTalki.com</em> to <em>practice</em> English. I <em>want</em> to <em>overcome</em> my French <em>accent</em>, and learn more vocabulary by speaking <em>with</em> someone who <em>speaks</em> American English. I have nothing against British English, <em>I'm just</em> not used to it, <em>although this may be</em> my chance to try <em>it.</em> I've <em>already tried</em> to speak with people<em> over</em> Skype; Kik Messenger; Facebook; <em>even </em>online games, but when they <em>asked</em> <em>me </em>for <em>a</em> video <em>chat or</em> phone call I <em>became anxious</em> as if I were <em>taking</em> an exam. I don't feel comfortable speaking to international students, <em>and when</em> I do, I <em>sometimes forget the vocabulary. </em>For instance: I <em>have not yet chosen</em> <em>an iTalki.com</em> professor because I don't know <em>wether a Community Tutor or a Professional Teacher</em> would be suitable.
I'm asking for your guidance, help, and kindness <em>so that I may</em> bloom like <em>a</em> flower.
Thank you for reading this, and <em>I</em> wish you a<em> nice Morning or Evening.</em>
Goal: <em>Speak American English fluently. </em>
<em> Ghizlane, you are able to express yourself well through written English. Consider reading modern English literature to gain awareness of sentence structures, grammar, and punctuation. Professional teachers provide lesson plans and coursework. Tutors provide practice in the spoken and written languages. My advice would be to take advantage of the Notebook, Answers, and Discussion web pages; encountering the various students, tutors, and teachers who provide editing and advice to you. One other aspect is the time zones. I correspond with a few people from Spain. We are six hours apart, but often we are able to find time to practice together. Good luck and keep writing.
