Could you correct my short post? Many thanks for your kind help
How is it going there? How is the weather? I hope all is well with you. Here the weather is very changeable -- usually in the morning it is quite cold (and even when you exhale/breathe out, and you can see your breath/your breath vapor), [1] but in the morning it is quite warm.
Sorry for not writing, but I have a good excuse. First, I work long hours, and when I return home, I am frequently stuck in a traffic jam. Secondly, I have no computer. Mine has crashed. My daughter has a small notebook (a present from my estranged husband to her), but she doesn't let me to use it, as she likes to watch cartoons. When she frees up her computer, it is so late that I am so sleepy that I hardly have the energy to brush and floss my teeth.
I hope to save some money and in 4 to 6 months to buy myself a new one. [2] However, I have to take into consideration the fact that the dollar is increasing in value as against the ruble these days, and if that continues, buying a computer will be a luxury (by the way, Yahoo even ran [3] an article about it).
I must go to brush my teeth and get ready for sleep.
Take care and keep in touch.
Yours,
N
[1] Almost everyone says, "you can see your breath." The word "steam" makes you think of what you see when you boil water.
[2] Lots of people would say "buy a new one for me/myself". I might say it too, if I want to emphasize it's for ME, and no one else.
[3] "To run" can mean "to publish (in a newspaper or magazine)." Example: "My ad/advertisement will run for three days." = My ad will be published for three days.
When using parentheses, don't leave a space between the left parenthesis and the first word. Correct: (The sun is hot.) Incorrect: ( The sun is hot.)
