According to my mother, my name was from a favourite American boxer of my father. However, she did not like the British spelling for "Geoff".

My older brother chose my name when he was 3 years old. My parents were standing in line in a supermarket together with my brother, and they hadn't decided on a name for me yet. My mother was pregnant at that time. And then some other child in the supermarket was called "Florian", and his mother called for him. My brother heard that and he liked that name, so he asked my parents to name me like this. I think my brother did OK chosing this name. I'm OK with it. :D But also, my brother and me have always been very close, so I actually like the fact that he chose my name. There couldn't have been a better person to choose it, not even my parents. :D
