Storyline of "Her", a film directed by Spike Jonze

Yesterday I saw a very singular film and l’d like to tell the story.

The title of the film is “Her” and it was directed by Spike Jonze in 2013.

The story is about a man who has problems being in relationship with other people, in particular with women.
But we can see that this is a problem that involves a lot of people, not only our main character.
Indeed the story is set in a imagined future not far from our own time. We find ourselves in a big impersonal city, that could be Los Angeles, where technology controls all aspects of our lives: people are always connected with an hearing aid and a small microphone, so they can execute commands not by touching a screen, as we usually do with our smartphones, but by speaking commands out loud. In this context we observe Theodore, our protagonist, acting.
He has a peculiar job: he is employed as a writer in a strange society where he has to write private letters in place of others who request this kind of service.
He lives alone and he doesn’t have many friends, his life seems to be very sad. Thanks to a series of flashbacks we come to understand that earlier he had been married and the cause of his sadness cames from his separation.
The turning point is when he discovers a new revolutionary software, with which he will be able to have a relationship. From that moment on, Theodore’s life will never be the same again.
