Nouvel Raka
First Time Okay, This is my first post and actually don't know what to write here. Hehehe... Hm, I think I'm going to start to introduce myself and why I signed up here in italki.com My name is Nouvel Raka, and you can call me Raka. Actually as indonesian, like other citizens in my country, I had been studying English formally from elementary school and stopped two years ago when I pass the last course of English in my university. You know, the hard way to communicate in English for me, though I had studied it for years, because I don't use it like I use Indonesian. I just studied about words and grammar, and not use it in speaking. And because, for some reasons, trying to speak in English in public places with my friends seems shameful. I know this is ridiculous. Sometimes I ask myself, 'why do I feel so shame speaking in English?' But when I try to talk to my friends using English, they just say, "Ayolah, kita di Indonesia dan kita adalah orang Indonesia. Mengapa kita harus pakai bahasa lain dalam komunikasi sehari-hari?" Which means quiet like this, "Come on, we're Indonesian and we're now in Indonesia. Why should we use foreign language in our daily communication?" And you know, there is a kind of 'culture' for young people who speak English not so good. They will stop you and say, "Stop, you speak like murmuring. Better you forget that language!" And they laugh. I think this is kind of bullying, hahaha.... I don't know exactly. So I hope in this great site, italki.com, I can find friends (new friends, since I'm a newbie here) to be my language partners, to be chat buddies, and perhaps to be my best friends. I think this is enough for my first post. Thank you for reading or editing or criticize my writing, means, thank you for everything.

Ofa, I'd love to join in your circle. But purbalingga is really far from my hometown, Depok. One day if I have an opportunity to visit you there, I would love to be introduced to your friends. Or we can make friends on line.... and we share in a group chat. Faye, maybe people (especially teenagers) in some country experience the same thing. And so, how do you face this and keep practicing your speaking? Fitri, yeah, I don't know the best term that refers to 'curhat'. Hehe...
