Things I Like and Dislike in Ireland Ireland is a lovely country. I have found out that since I moved from Portugal to here in April of this year. Day after day, I’ve been positively surprised with everything. Despite I had a general idea about the country, the opportunity to live here change completely your point of view and you could realize about the costums and habits of Irish people. A foremost thing I like in Ireland is its people. They are pretty friendly and they always are available to help everyone when they are in need. I feel that wherever I go (supermarket, bank, pub), and I especially feel that with my poor English. So far, when the people realise of my difficulties in English instead of they get joking with me, they always try to help and make an effort to understand what I want or wish. The Irish are also very entertaining and happy, they are always ready for a good party, and this is another of the features that I like most. Ireland is known as the Europe’s Emerald Isle due its beautiful landscapes and that title could not be more appropriate. Since I have arrived in Ireland I had opportunity to visit some places like Blarney, Connemara, Galway, Cong, among others, and arguably, the natural beauty is second feature I like most here. I love sport and here you can feel the Irish passion over the sports. Since Rugby up to running, the people really living and enjoy the sport practice. One thing I really appreciate it´s the way how the Irish defend its sporting culture and its Gaelic Sports: Football Gaelic and Hurling. These two sports are the proof that the culture could and should be in sport as well. Another thing I appreciate it´s the ease how you can practice any sport because there are a plenty of pitches, and many of them are free. To be honest, the way as the work is valued and paid in Ireland, is another thing I really appreciate here. Finally, the beer. I am lover of beer and what better place for beer lovers than Ireland?! Like everything else, not all are roses. I think the only three things I dislike in Ireland are weather, prices of rent and the transport. The weather, I think is something that we get used to with the time. In the first months was harder because one day can have 4 different weather and you never know what expect, but now I’m getting used. Something I have realized here in Ireland is a shortage of supply of home for rent and I think this is the cause of the rent high prices. For a little flat with 1 room we might pay something as € 100
