How to teach english in the rural area? People in rural areas in Colombia sometimes do not have sufficient access to the education for different socio-cultural factors such as the violence, lack of resources or sometimes the children have to work to collaborate in their own houses and this is a barrier to study too. Also the rural area several times is far to the city and people do not have access to the technology. On the other hand the government in his politic of education always speaks about the ambitious project “Bilingual Colombia” to standardize levels, contents and teaching practice in Colombia´s schools, but the reality it is other, for this reason we want to take in account this phenomenon to being investigate and could impact in the context. For this research it is important other points of view such as Paths in Licenciatura en Lengua extranjera Ingles Universidad Santo Tomas as EFL teaching and Learning because the researcher can find factors in EFL teaching and learning based in the competences, ages and levels. For start this research it is necessary to read about existing literature about the problem and we found the follow research:* “Critical Socio-Cultural Elements of the Intercultural Endeavour of English Teaching in Colombian Rural Areas”(Bonilla-2014) this research is according with our topic because the researcher speak about socio-cultural elements that influenced in the learning process for example : “Amongst the findings, we noticed that these teachers have to mediate between local and global tensions and also deal with socio-cultural matches and mismatches in their labors” ( Bonilla- Cruz -2014). Also we found in the previous text important points such us: “Taking into account that when we talk about an intercultural experience in this study, we refer to the ways in which the cultural exchange happens not only between the native and the foreign language but also between the teacher’s and the students’ cultures.” ( Bonilla- Cruz -2014) .because the teacher have a great labor in this process “ Teachers need to help them to overcome such potential barriers to learning”( Brow-2007) According with the previous, we could identify the reason that influence in the teaching and learning EFL language, and with this information arises this question.
