A small question in English Hi Fellas, Which way is the correct way to say?(If the first one, why?) "three digit number or "three digits number" "seven hour difference" or "seven hours difference" Thanx!

I believe it is because they are collective nouns.

"One number with three digits", is restated as "A three digit number".

It is like "One classroom with six students" can be restated as " A six student classroom".

"A difference of seven hours" turns into "A seven hour difference"
