Zarra Tonight, Messi has become the Spanish league all time top scorer. In all, he has scored 253 goals, which is an amazing achievement. Until today, the all time top scorer had beenTelmo Zarra, with 251 goals scored. Zarra always played for the same club, Athletic de Bilbao. In the time when Zarra played(in the 1940s and 50s) footballers weren't professional, and they have to work in the mornings and practise in the evenings. To get on time to the games, Zarra had to catch a train and then a bus, which is unthinkable nowadays.He was six times top scorer of the Spanish league and was undoubtedly, one of the most famous Spanish players of all time. Despite all his achievements, he was always a humble person and behaved like a gentleman on the pitch. For example, he would refuse to score a goal when the opponent goalkeeper was injured, no matter how important the match was. Since 1955 nobody had been able to break his record, although there have been great strikers playing on this league. From now on though, it seems that Messi is going to hold this record for a while.
