Answer: There has been dramatically increasing number of youth crimes committed over the past few years. The phenomenon is being worsen and the trend seems to rocket in an exponential momentum. In my opinion, the fundamental cause ought to be the widespread of internet and Smartphone. It is evident that sharing, even some criminal offenses, on social media are a modern trendy act. Due to the easier access to different websites; acting, recording and posting the “bravery activities” are regarded as triumph among adolescences. According to some news reports, there were even some young bank robberies who had posted the money they robbed to their facebook page solely for show off. Smartphone and web addiction are undoubtedly a catalyst of the trend. Likewise, the crazy and indecent lifestyles of celebrities are enormously exposed to our teenagers among these decades. The mindset of teens is not fully developed typically, they can be easily affected by the behaviours of idols, especially the idols they adore and fancy with. For instance, Justin Biebier, the famous pop star was claimed to be drug abuse in different occasions; home, parties or nightclubs, his younger fans tend to follow and admit on those inappropriate acts, and finally, mimic their idols they saw on internet. There is a common believe that prevention is better than cure, but the question is, how? I do believe it can be done in two separate ways. First, parents should put more effort and time to guide their children to a right path. More importantly, funding should be granted by government to hire famous stars to be ambassadors of crime prevention, as the effectiveness of an idol is far more higher than normal advertisement, we should promote them to alleviate the worsen youth crime situation.
