"Let Him Have It" Last Tuesday, I had an English exam that was very interesting because our language school always use true stories to talk about, sometimes there are stories, cases, etc. that you've never heard about and now you can learn and know those stories. On this occasion, the text was about "Derek Bentley's Case" who was hanged for the murder of a police officer. Bentley was sentenced to death because of an interpretation of the phrase "Let him have it" and they understood that Craig (his accomplice and friend) had obeyed the words of his friend. The case is that they both were arrested and received their sentences. Bentley's family hadn't agreed with the court and made a long campaign for that reason. In fact, this story has probably similarities with the current form of investigations and punishments. In some cases they don't follow a correct investigation or as happen here in Paraguay and I know in other countries as well "The money can buy the judge's sentence". I agree with Bentley's family because It's stupid to sentence someone for a bad interpretation. It could have meant another thing.
