Sorry I'm late.

I apologize for being late. I had to drop my wife off at the office. Traffic was unusually bad today. It won't happen again. I will take care of it. I know I have been late four days this week because I'm a little bit sick. I will work to make-up for all the times I've been tardy to work. Please excuse my tardiness; keep in mind that all of my time being tardy from work had been caused by unfortunate circumstances which were entirely beyond my control: heavy traffic and illness. I hope you will please be considerate to me.
