The Legend of the Time
Continuing with the game with Tony, I'll translate from Spanish into English a famous song by Camaron called "La leyenda del tiempo". The song is a fragment of a very beautiful poem by Lorca (included in one of his plays of theatre).
I put in blue an alternative suggestion.
El sueño va sobre el tiempo The dream goes over the time
The dream moves above time
Flotando como un velero floating like a sailing boat.
Floating like a sailboat
Nadie puede abrir semillas No one can open seeds
No one can open seeds
En el corazón del sueño In the dream's heart.
In the heart of the dream
El tiempo va sobre el sueño The time goes over the dream
Time moves above the dream
Hundido hasta los cabellos sunken until the hair.
Sunken up to the hair (on its head?)
Ayer y mañana comen Yesterday and tomorrow they eat
Yesterday and tomorrow they eat
Oscuras flores de duelo dark flowers of duel.
dark flowers of mourning (This seems to be a play on words: duel / mourning. Time and the dream are dueling and sharing grief.)
Sobre la misma columna Over the same column
Over the same column/pillar
Abrazados sueño y tiempo Hugged dream and time.
dream and time embraced
Cruza el gemido del niño The moan of the child is crossed
Crossing the wailing of the child
La lengua rota del viejo by the old man's broken tongue.
is the fractured tongue of the old man
Y si el sueño finge muros And If the dream pretend walls
And if the dream erects imaginary walls
En la llanura del tiempo In the plain of the time
On the plain of time
El tiempo le hace creer the time makes it to believe
Time makes the dream believe
Que nace en aquel momento that it borns in that moment.
That it is born in that moment.
