Balikbayan – a compound word formed with “balik” (return) and “bayan” (country).  The word may refer to a home-country visit or a more permanent return migration.

Pupunta sa Pinas ang kaibigan kong. => Pupunta sa ‘Pinas ang kaibigan ko. = My friend will go/is going to the Philippines.

- You may also use “bibisita” (will visit) or “uuwi” (will go home) in place of “pupunta”.

- “Pinas” is more often used in oral communication than in writing.  You might also find it more often written as “ ’Pinas ”, with the apostrophe indicating the clipping of the first syllable.  You will usually encounter it in advertisements as a way of sounding hip, but in standard written form, most of us would use “Pilipinas”.

- “kong” (ko na = my *** who is) would be correct if a modifier for “kaibigan” would follow it.  For example, “kaibigan kong taga-Cebu” and “kaibigan kong babae”, has the “ng” after “ko” for the modifiers, “taga-Cebu” and “babae”.  If there is no modifier, you only need to use “ko”.

Excited/Nasasabik siya talaga kasi miss na miss (na) SIYA ng pamilya niya. = He/She is really excited because HE/SHE is truly missed (already) by his/her family.

Excited/Nasasabik siya talaga kasi miss na miss (na) NIYA ang kaniyang pamilya.  = He/She is really excited because HE/SHE truly misses (already) his/her family.

Though the "na" (already) just before "niya" and "siya" may be optional, the sentences would sound more natural if they are there.

Some of us may place "talaga" before "excited" or "nasasabik" to put more emphasis to the excitement, since anyway that is really what "talaga" is modifying. -> "Talagang excited/nasasabik siya kasi..."
