Should University Students be required to Attend Classes? The presence of internet has affected the education sector significantly. Many of universities nowadays offer online classes for their students as an option to help them study. But still they maintain the traditional system of study, which is offline classes that require students to attend classes on certain time and place. The question then begin to arise, should students be required to attend classes or the can just apply for online classes? Even though there are online classes available at a university, there are a few reasons that people still have to attend offline classes. First, offline classes teach students to be responsible of their duty. Attending classes require students to get up early in the morning and go to campus on time because if they are late, they cannot enter the class and considered as absent. This absence will be accumulated and will no doubt affect to their final grade. Classes also help students to interact with their fellow students either in a discussion or in a conversation. These kind of interactions will develop their social life and also keep them update with latest issues or news they might not know before. Last but not least, classes facilitate students to meet the professor of certain subject they learn about. Students may ask the professor about the subject and gain more understanding about it. They can have a face to face conversation which is much easier compared to using online chatting. Students can also easily get samples or additional materials from the professor. In short, the advantage of going to classes far outweigh that of online classes. Students can develop themselves in many aspects by going to classes. They can learn to be responsible, build their social interactions with friends, and gain more understanding by interacting directly with the professor.
