Writing based on my own reading, please help me check the grammars! Author’s Message. In this reading the author elaborates the five stages of writing process, prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing. The first stage, prewriting, asks writers to explore, collect and organize ideas for following writing. Teacher can use techniques like Brainstorming and I-Search Process to facilitate students finding topics and gathering information. For revising, the author introduces Response guides and Peer editing as a tool in helping students work on their writing revision. In the beginning of this chapter, the author provides a real example of how productive and literacy-centered classroom looks like, and then expands the five elements for applying an effective writing program in the intermediate grades. Integration of Material with other knowledge. The Performance Task is an emerging tool to assess students’ learning outcome in mathematic and writing, it cooperates with Computer Adaptive Test and classroom activities. Compared with traditional scandalized test, the Performance Task in writing evaluates students through different learning levels and requires students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skill when they are doing the writing tasks. Teacher, who is informed about the five stages of writing process and know how to create an effective writing program in class, will help the students to succeed in the tasks. Application of Material. Applying Peer editing and Author’s chair in writing class will increase students’ interests in writing and build collaborative learning. Shy children can be beneficial by working in a small group with peers, building self-confident through help peers edit articles. And giving a chance to let shy children share their ideas in the class and receive positive feedback from classmates can help them socialize then being active in class.
