How to write English titles?

"Saving Your Eyes in Snow Season" - that’s a topic of a piece of news on The New York Times website.
I suddenly got to know a rule of English title writing. When we write a title starting with a verb, we should plus ‘ing’ behind to convert it to a gerund. And I know, if the verb is used as passive voice, we should puls ‘ed’ to convert it to past participle.
Am I right? Do you have any suggestions about English title writing?
