The trip to 18 degrees north latitude
After my trip, I 've been thinking how to begin the story, or how to introduce my trip. Finally I decided to tell a story of [? tow ?] two rocks - Tianya Haijiao.
I visited the scenic spot called Tianya Haijiao this Monday. It is located at the southern end of Hainan island of China. It has charming scenery and pleasant climate. The place is famous for [? tow ?] two rocks, huge rocks engraved with Chinese calligraphy that have been standing on the beach for thousands of years.
Hainan island was used to exile government officers since ancient times, because it is an isolated place far away from the mainland. The ancients thought that to live on an island populated by aboriginal people with a barbaric way of life would be horrible, and the place was compared to hell. Many politicians, scholars, and authors who opposed their government were sent here, but they found it an abundant and beautiful place once when they set foot in the land.
Reputedly Su Dongpo (an important figure in Song Dynasty) was also one of the people who were banished here. One day he walked on the beach after drinking, and then he [? borrow wine lyric?] took a word from a drinking poem, writing the characters "Tianya" with Chinese calligraphy on the huge rock. The word means "the ends of the earth". According to another tale, that the characters Haijiao were engraved by an artisan [? when he saw the Tianya letters after ? -- not clear: did the artisan saw the letters somewhere else and then engraved them on the rock? Did he see them painted on the rock by Su Dongpo and then incised them permanently?], so we usually call this place Tianya Haijiao.
If you arrive here it means you have reached the end of world. Because the word "Tianya" has the connotation "I will follow you to the uttermost ends of the earth", Tianya Haijiao became a destination for people who fall in love. Otherwise, the word has a not-so-pleasant connotation of "being at the end of one's tether". [? Most of tourists just only go to see the Tianya when they come here to visit the rock, ? -- not quite clear what you wanted to say; of course if they come to see the Tianya rock, they see the rock...] There are four characters "Hai Kuo Tian Kong (海阔天空)" below the word "Tianya"; they mean "life begins on the other side of despair".

[ Overall, a fairly good piece of writing; I think I could understand 95%+ of it. My corrections are mostly for style, not grammar. For example, it helps to break the text into shorter sentences]
