With or without subtitless? I have a problem. And I think the problem is not only mine. When I watch video with subtitles I understand some words and if I don't understand some of word, generally, I can to get what this mean. But if I watch without subtitles often I don't understand anything. The problem is - when I watch with subtitles I get habit simple to read and cannot hear the word. But watch without reading I cannot understand. What do I have to do?

I like to watch movies or series in english. I've improved a lot my english understanding this way. But the most important is to use ENGLISH subtitles. If I use subtitles in my native language, my brain becomes kind of lazy choosing the easiest way, just reading and not really listenning.

But if I watch without subtitles often I don't understand anything. The problem is - when I watch with subtitles I get in the habit of simply reading and not listening to the words. But if I watch without reading I cannot understand. What do I have to do?

I would recommend you watch shorter videos, first no subtitles, then with subs in your language, then in the language you want to learn. You might want to post this question in the <em>Discussions </em>section to get more replies.

Такая же беда.. Поэтому я пересматриваю один и тот же фильм, который мне очень симпатичен) Сначала я смотрела его несколько раз с дубляжом поверх оригинальной аудиодорожки, затем с титрами и без дубляжа, и со временем оригинальная аудиодорожка воспринимается гораздо легче и понятнее даже без титров. Главное найти фильм, который не будет раздражать после пары-тройки просмотров и взять его в оборот)
