Studying as an enjoyable process VS Memorizing as a boring method *This post is the continuance of my last post (link: http://www.italki.com/entry/522407) How are you doing so far? Up till now, you should know 70 new words (I uploaded my last post a week ago). Studying 10 words per day (or averagely 10 words per day) seems as an easy task but actually, it is a tricky one. The most important principle is Study. There is a big difference between studying and memorizing which I believe most of us do. For me the whole process of studying (Generally anything new, and particularly languages) should be FUN! Otherwise, probably I won't remember anything, moreover in real time I won't be able to use it (which is finally the Issue). In my humble opinion, memorizing is the opposite of fun, a boring method. In Hebrew there is a nickname for someone who memorizing material, he is called Tuki – Bird. The reason is that he memorizes a huge amount of material for weeks and after he finished using it (for instance vomiting all the material during an exam), he forgets all he had memorized (usually after a few seconds) as if he had a brain of a Tuki. Therefore, I would like to share one of my favorite ways of studying languages with you: 1. Learning trough songs Why this way and its benefits and How it relates to my last post will be published next week.. Until then .. Have FUN!

Studying as an enjoyable process VS Mmemorizing as a boring method

*This post is the continuance continuation of my last post (link: http://www.italki.com/entry/522407)

Studying 10 words per day (or averagely 10 words per day) seems as like an easy task but actually, it is a tricky one. The most important principle is to Sstudy. There is a big difference between studying and memorizing, which I believe most of us do.

For me, the whole process of studying (Ggenerally anything new, and particularly languages) should be FUN! Otherwise, probably I probably won't remember anything, moreover in real time I won't be able to use it in real time (just sounds a bit more natural- both are right) (which is finally the Issue probably a better way to say this is "which is the bigger issue"). In my humble opinion, memorizing is the opposite of fun, and is a boring method. In Hebrew there is a nickname for someone who memorizinges material, he is called a Tuki – which means Bird (Toucan is the type of bird you're talking about!). The reason for this nickname is that a tuki he memorizes a huge amount of material for weeks and after he is finished using it (for instance vomiting regurgitating  all the material during an exam), he forgets all everything he had has memorized (usually after a few seconds) as if he had a brain of a Tuki.*
Therefore, I would like to share one of my favorite ways of studying languages with you:

Why this way and its benefits and How it relates to my last post will be published next week.. I will publish the method and benefits of this method next week (and also how it relates to my previous post!) Until then .. Have FUN!

*This would be better off in 2 sentences. Here's how I would re-write it, definitely not the only way though: The reason for this nickname is that a Toucan memorizes a huge amount of material for weeks. After he is finished using it (for instance, regurgitating all the material during an exam,) he forgets everything he has memorized instantly, like a Toucan.

**(In the US we wouldn't say vomiting, but we would say regurgitating for test material, which means the same thing- this does give it a very negative connotation though, which I think you want)
