Ahmos
An attempt of translating a newspaper story from Arabic into English. I'd be happy if u give me ur comments and to get my entry corrected! This is a translated text (from Ar. into Eng.) , after finishing it I felt like it needs to be edited by an Eng. native speaker: to make sure whither the translated version sounds natural or not. Here is my translation: Cairo- Al HAYAT Newspaper: Hundreds of people rallied at (the) Al-Ataka port in the City of Suez yesterday at dawn to welcome 34 Egyptian fishermen who were returning home by two fishing boats: the "Momtaz 1" and the "Ahmed Samara". A week earlier, the fishermen managed to overcome a group of Somali pirates who had been keeping them hostage for four months. An armed battle ensued, in which 8 pirates were captured and 7 others killed. To welcome the two vessels, hundreds of the fishermen relatives boarded dozens of boats. They came from Elborolus village of Kafr el-Shiek City, and Elburg village of Damietta. Celebrating their returning, a large pavilion was held, in which the fishermen families uttered trilling cries of joy. As well as drummers and Al-Semsmya music (traditional kind of music which the cities of Suez Canal are famous for) were performed. After hours of waiting, the two fishing boats, which seemed rusty, finally appeared; immediately, families cheered and the Egyptian traditional dancers and music were played as an appreciation. A large banner was held, that was written in which: “Welcome to the heroes fishermen of Egypt”. As soon as the two vessels moored, the former detained fishermen got embraced with tears of joy by their families. They seemed tired out but happy!

Celebrating their returning, a large pavilion was built, in which the fishermen families uttered trilling cries of joy. As well, as drummers and Al-Semsmya music (traditional kind of music which the cities of Suez Canal are famous for) were performed.
