Will internet and modern technologies replace a written word as a main source of information? Have you ever heard that e-books and internet will replace the written word as the main souce of information? Of course, you have. To my mind this has almost happen. To begin with, electronic readers gradually become more and more convenient for users. Comparative consideration of electronics shows that over last decades these devices have become so poverful and their appearance so magnificent that they could be regarded as excellent equivalent of books. Secondly, these technologies save our forests which are known to be lungs of the Earth. Increasing of survival rate of trees is a very important point since humanity faced strong environmental problems. In my opinion, the greatest advantage of the internet and computers is possibility to store entire library in a single device not bigger than common book. Just imagine it! Using only one device we are able to save a forest! What is more, many magazines stopped printing paper issues and turned to on-line publications in order to reduce material losses and profit maximization. In spite of all facts, listed above, there are some disadvantages of internet reading. First of all, monitors cause substantial damage to eyes. Besides this, high-tech gears are much less reliable than non-electric mechanisms or things, consequently, paper-based notebooks and books will serve for reading and writing in such places like pilots' cabins in planes and space ships, scientific laboratories and so on. To sum up, written word will newer disappear, but modern technologies made a remarcable progress, turning books into highly specialized tool. Thank you for king attention! I would greatly appreciate it if you could estimate my IELTS mark for such essay.

Will internet and modern technologies replace a written word as a main source of information?

Have you ever heard that e-books and internet will replace the written word as the main souce of information? Of course, you have. To my mind this has almost happened.
To begin with, electronic readers have gradually become more and more convenient for users. Comparative consideration of electronics shows that over last decades these devices have become so powerful and their appearance so magnificent that they could be regarded as an excellent equivalent to books.
Secondly, these technologies save our forests which are known to be the lungs of the Earth. Increasing of survival rate of trees is a very important point/issue since humanity faces strong environmental problems. In my opinion, the greatest advantage of the internet and computers is the possibility to store an entire library in a single device no bigger than common book. Just imagine it! Using only one device we are able to save a forest! What is more, many magazines (have) stopped printing paper issues and turned to on-line publications in order to reduce material losses and maximise profits.
In spite of all of the facts listed above, there are some disadvantages to internet reading. First of all, monitors cause substantial damage to eyes. Besides this, high-tech gears are much less reliable than non-electric mechanisms or things (methods? items?) and consequently, paper-based notebooks and books will serve (continue to be used?) for reading and writing in places such as pilots' cabins in planes, spaceships, scientific laboratories and so on.
To sum up, the written word will never disappear but modern technologies have made remarkable progress, turning books into highly specialized tools.

Thank you for kind attention! I would greatly appreciate it if you could estimate my IELTS mark for such essay.

I could not estimate your mark I'm afraid but it is an interesting topic and you have some good ideas. Good luck!
