breaking my fears Hi, everyone My name is Melissa and i'm trying to learn English since many years ago but it is for me like math for my students. i am teacher in UABC Mexicali, Mexico but at this moment i interrupted my work because i am studying a PhD . i am in Tucson, Az right now in a short stay for three months and this situation( to stay in EU) have been very difficult for me because my english is not very good, always i'm trying to traslate in my mind what i'll speak and take long to talk this is horrible.. some times i prefer not speak,, but if i never try i will never learn. Today i spoke a little more but it isn't enough

Hello Melissa,

I completely understand your frustration, and I recommend trying to find someone in Tucson who wants to learn Spanish and arrange an intercambio with them. If this isn't possible, there are a lot of people on italki who want to practice speaking. If you can afford it, finding a teacher to help you might give you more confidence much faster.

I think you need to break the ice with talking. I was like you until a great friend called Mandie helped me.i am still trying to improve my speaking because it is not good enough .I have a lot of vocabulary but they are useless because I don't use them
