How to Memorize Vocabulary PART #1 A student asks; "I want to know how to remember new words quickly and how to remember them." The essential fact about learning, is the we learn by two activities: #1 We copy what others do, say, or write. #2 We repeat, and repeat, and repeat what we see others do, say, or write. • Here is my method for memorizing vocabulary •and using it in a way that helps memory. • I think that one good method to remember new words is to keep a notebook in which you compose sentences using the words you know. I do not suggest that you set out to learn all the words of the English language all at once. One way to go about this is to choose carefully what you read. I think nonfiction is so much better than fiction for the development of a "working vocabulary". When you find phrases and words that you like in something written, use them in sentences which you write in your notebook. Thus, the most common words you know, will be connected in a network of new words that you use.
