Maslenitza maybe you know we had festival week- Maslenitza is one of the most favourite holidays in our country. It lasts from Monday till Sunday. It comes either at the end of February or at the beginning of March, this is so-called movable festival. This holiday means the end of winter and the spring coming. It has pagan origin. During this holiday people visit each other During these days people should eat much butter, cheese, sour cream, lots of pancakes. Pancake is a simbol of sun. Lent follows Maslenitza for orthodox believers. Last sunday our family (I, husband and son) and our friends went to the picnik, we rested, drank hot tea with pancakes and strowberry jam and than burned a man of straw (the main attribute of this festival is simbol winter which must go away) .
