IT law IT law is a new branch of law in connection with the new technologies, for example, it is connected to copyright issues and internet law. I think that the main principles in this area are... the respect to privacy (the non-disclosure agreement, etc), the fair trade (e-commerce issues, to protect the customer), the respect to intellectual property and to the access and the legality of terms and conditions while you are settling down an e-agreement (because in most of the cases you don't have the possibility to discuss /to negotiate with the supplier these terms). So, in a few words, it's the future.

I see! Interesting. Well, we study about it in different subjects... Contract law but more in Private International Law. But IT law regulates this. So, we see the same topic along the career but with different perspectives.

Well, I don't how it is in the argentinian law, but in the french and european law, e-commerce isn't a question of IT law, it is rather a question treated in consumption law. Between the consumer and the company there is indeed a contract that takes form through the internet. So this question is seen under the principles of the contracrts law. More specifically consumption law that sets up rules that protect the consumer because it is the weak party, from abusive behaviour of the professionals (for example the prohibition of the contrctual abusive clauses) :D

Thank you Elias! Yes, I agree with you, internet is a global network, all the efforts to regulate this branch of law are denying its own essence. Maybe e-commerce has to be regulated because.. if not, maybe you buy something, you pay but then, you don't receive what you bought. I really consider internet as an useful tool for self-learning. Te agradezco por leer mi website, lo sé... hay mucho que agregar y aún no publiqué mis artículos científicos allí. ¿Me podrías decir sobre mis errores de francés? Espero que podamos hablar más. Saludos.

Hi Laura Sofia ! I believe there is a paradox in what concerns IT law. This branch of law aims to regulate the internet and set up rules that the internet users must respect. However, the main characteristic of the internet is that it is a place of freedom with no broders and no applicable rules. The freedom is in the essence of the web, so is it really possible to regulate it ? not sure. Besides, we are talking about a global network, this means that, if each country applies its own IT rules, it would be the same thing as not having rules at all. The only possible way must come from a concertation between the States. Within the European Union, it is perfectly conceivable and possible to apply the same rules among all the States, because there is a central government in Bruxelles and a justice court that has the missions to make sure the law is uniformly and effectively applied. But how about the rest of the world ?
