Spring has come ( Introduction Japanese cultures )

Today a forecaster declared " the cherry blossoms began begin/have begun to bloom." I'm I really look forward to hear that every year!
When cherry trees bloom/blossom (the trees blossom, flowers or plants bloom) it's a really special thing/time for Japanese to the cherry trees bloom. I hope that the cherry trees will be in full bloom! (Well of course the will, but next month or in May)

I'm going to go to a somewhere famous for watching (how can you watch flowers? what do the do?) picnicking amongst the cherry blossoms to and will take a lunch box (bento?). This is one of Japanese culture's famous customs. We call it "Ohanami".

Japanese like to eat some small cold dishes and drink alcohol (soju?) while seeing admiring the cherry blossoms.

Thank you for reading! Please correct my errors.

Hello laogui32. I'm sorry for my slow reply. It's pretty interesting and difficult question! Because I've never thought about it. ohanami(お花見) and hanami are quite same meaning. But ohanami is polite expression than hanami. We usually say ohanami. In my case, I say hanami to be pretty close my friends. For example " let's go hanami ! ". Maybe Japanese choice ohanami or hanami by situations and our own feelings.

may I ask what is the difference between ohanami お花見 and hanami? Is 'hanami' just a westernisation?
