(or 흔한일일까?)

Today I changed degrees. It was a tough decision. Because I had studied Asian Studies for 2 years already. I start Linguistics next semester. Is it common to change degrees in Korea?

I'm using 반말 this time. Is the above sentences correct. Is the word ending "다" 반말?

>> half and half. The ending "~다." feels like strict. But it is a neutral and official wording. And every "~다." ending is not 반말. It depends on vocabularies, polite variation of verbs and postpositions.

For example, there are 2 sentenses.

Both mean thank you and use the "~다." ending. However 고맙다 is 반말 but 고맙습니다 not.

I think 고맙다 is closed to "thanks" and 고맙습니다 closed to "thank you."

:)

Hi nessy, quite a few people are asking me that as well. I transferred over to linguistics because I wanted to become a teacher of language. Either an English teacher, or a teacher who teaches other teachers TESOL, or become an academic. I wanted to have a strong base before graduating, instead of Asian studies which was starting to become just another political science major. There are other jobs, obviously that I haven't thought of, maybe speech pathology, even designing programs like anki and memrise which would have linguistics designing the algorithms to train our memory. With my degree I have to learn a language on top of linguistics so there are so many possibilities. I just couldn't spend another 2 years doing something I hated. Hope this helps if you have any other questions just message me. BTW your Korean is better than mine ????

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of work are you looking to do? I am curious to know what kind of work linguistics majors do after graduating. I am not sure.
