Powell's case Was Officer Powell guilty? Officer Powell was guilty for the following pieces of evidence. First of all, the Singers, the only two witnesses in Rodney King's case, thought Powell used excessive force. Since Officers Tim and Melanie Singer are trained officers, they had a clear understanding of what "excessive force" meant. While Mrs.Singer testified that Powell hit Rodney King in the right cheek, Mr. Singer testified that Powell hid Mr. King's head, twice. According to the video, Rodney King continued to rise after he was struck with "power strokes". And according to Officer Powell, he struck Mr.King because he was "scared to death"; he was afraid that Mr.King would get hold of one of the weapons and hurt officers. However, apart from kept rising again and again, Mr. King neither showed the tendency to grab anything, nor did he stretched his arms to a specific direction. The fact that there were eight officers at the scene makes Officer Powell's testimony pale. Moreover, after Mr.King finally kept his knees to the ground, which was described by the defense as "with his knees cocked",the beating did not stop. However, according to the video, up to this point, Mr. King did not have any tendency to rise again and he kept his knees to the ground. And according to the man from the Force-escalating Department testified that "all the actions that took place after 42'20"" were all excessive use of force. Furthermore, Briseno, one of the four officers being accused, accused Powell of using excessive force. Briseno tried to stop Powell from beating Mr.King, but failed. "Powell was out of control,"he said. Also, the message Officer Powell sent clearly stated," I haven't been beaten anyone this badly this long time." The fact that he used the word "beaten" meant that he knew he was doing the wrong thing, but he did not care. An audio also revealed Officer Powell's laughter after the incident. Obviously, he did not care what happened though he confessed he had "beaten" Rodney King. After Mr. King was transferred to the hospital, the nurse testified that Powell said things like, "Don't you remember we played some hard balls tonight?"

Powell's case

Was Officer Powell guilty?
Officer Powell was found guilty based on (one is not guilty because of evidence, but rather found guilty because of what the evidence shows.) the following pieces of evidence. First of all, the Singers, the only two witnesses in Rodney King's case, thought Powell used excessive force. Since Officers Tim and Melanie Singer are trained officers, they had a clear understanding of what "excessive force" means (我觉得过去时态没问题但这样写在逻辑上更加正确一点). While Mrs. Singer testified that Powell hit Rodney King in the right cheek, Mr. Singer testified that Powell hit (or "struck") Mr. King in the head, twice.
According to the video, Rodney King continued to rise after he was struck with "power strokes." And according to Officer Powell, he struck Mr.King because he was "scared to death;" he was afraid that Mr.King would get hold of one of the weapons and hurt officers. However, apart from the fact that he kept rising again and again, Mr. King neither showed the tendency to (attempted to?) grab anything, nor did he stretched his arms in a specific direction. The fact that (我个人觉得把"the fact"省略也行) there were eight officers at the scene makes Officer Powell's testimony seem pale (这个字较少见,不过此也不见得有错。你是不是学英国的英文?反正我想在这个语境下用法没问题). Moreover, Mr.King eventually (ceased resisting and?) kept his knees to the ground, which was described by the defense as "with his knees cocked." The beating nonetheless did not stop.

However, according to the video, up to this point, Mr. King did not have any tendency to rise again, (新主语加上comma) and he kept his knees to the ground. And according to the man from the Force-escalating Department testified that (<em>see </em>"according to") "all the actions that took place after 42'20"" were all constituted excessive use of force.
Furthermore, Briseno, one of the four officers being accused, accused Powell of using excessive force. Briseno tried to stop Powell from beating Mr.King, but failed. "Powell was out of control," he said.
Also, the message Officer Powell sent clearly stated, "I haven't been beaten anyone (你不想写被动语态是吧?) this badly this long time (for a very long time?)." The fact that he used the word "beaten" meant that he knew he was doing the wrong thing, but he did not care. An audio recording also revealed Officer Powell's laughter after the incident. Obviously, he did not care what happened though he confessed he had "beaten" Rodney King. After Mr. King was transferred to the hospital, the nurse testified that Powell said things like, "Don't you remember we played some hard balls tonight?"

我们法学生经常避免被动语态,但除非你写的是法律简要等等,什么都可以。

这段话的难度非常高。你接近native水平。你是不是学过法律?嘿嘿。也许会适合你。有什么问题的话,就来找我吧
