the Definition of Success The definition of be successful is what i have been thinking about since my high school life started. Now nearly 3 years has passed and i am going through the last three months of my high school life which is tiresome and monotonous. In China, teachers and schools and even the whole society attach great importance to receiving higher education which I totally agree to.But in school, you always hear teachers saying"Fight for Peking and Tsinghua University" which are the best universities in china.I think teachers and schools judge students only by grades which i dont think it's right.I think in china, the society's general difination of success is graduating from the top university, earning a lot of money, being some one people have to look up at ,and even being a government official. This sort of unitary definition of success got me confused.I think most students and friends around me are fighting for being admitted to their dream university. But if you ask them why they should be doing this or what they want to be in the future, most of them will say they dont know or they will respect their parents' wishes and arrangements which i think is absolutely ridiculous. They are fighting but not aware of what exactly is the thing that takes so much of their hard work. They are running but dont know where the finishing line is.I think people are always making comparisons with each other in grades, salary, husbands and wives, their position at work etc.I dont see the point of doing this.Is being superior to others in some way the success ?Maybe it is.But if it is the key that makes the success of life,i think we will just end up exhausting ourselves trying to come on top in everything we do,which isnt realistic or healthy. Then back to my title, what is the definition of success? As far as I'm concerned,it's the self-realization which means we should enjoy the satisfaction of doing what we are really intersted in.We should concentrate on our interest and ignore others' expectations which can be a trap that gets us lost in finding what we want.My deskmate is a sweet girl who wants to be a farmer because she's interested in farmwork. What i want to say is we dont have to be great or someone famous. We just need to be ourselves, unique and unreplaceable.
