The Soapybook Maybe I'll be able to write fiction series that will make sense and practice a new vocabulary simultaneously. I have no idea what will happen next. It depends on the words I'm trying to learn :) I hope this entry has at least some connection with the previous one. I hope you like the wordplay in the title. Notebook -> Soapybook. She was descending from the hill in vain modesty. She disguised her real nature behind her fake, smarmy merriment so well, she fooled almost everybody. She has never fooled me. Behind all of the majesty there was a glimpse of homeliness, firmly and deeply engraved in her by hers distant past. "Here we go. I'm a dead meat," popped up in my head for a brief moment, while she shook my hand. Our hands skirmished for a second, when I refused an assertive, rather arrogant and dominant handshake. She has offered me her hand as if she thought I should kiss her on the back of her palm. "Hello dear!" There was a patronizing shade in her otherwise happy voice. "My precious darling! Hello!" I replied in hope she can sense at least a shadow of sarcasm in my voice. If she did, she decided to ignore it. "You know, why I'm here, don't you? I've summoned a meeting last Monday, but you couldn't come. I hope you feel better now. You look better and well rested, that's for sure." A tantalizing hint in her speech. A tiny hint. Almost unnoticeable, so thin. "Yes, I know why you're here," I replied. "Well, you're wrong! You have no idea why I'm here!" She burst into laughter as if she told a hilarious jest. I've had prepared numerous responses, but puzzled glare was not one of them. To be continued.

The Soapybook

Maybe I'll be able to write a fiction series that will make sense, (comma to visibly separate the series and the vocabulary) and practice a (haha the nightmare of English articles!) new vocabulary simultaneously. I have no idea what will happen next. It depends on the words I'm trying to learn :) I hope this entry has at least some connection with the previous one.
I hope you like the wordplay in the title. Notebook -> Soapybook. (scratching my head in bemusement)

She was descending from the hill in vain modesty (mmm you might want oxymoron, but it is pretty weird connected to to the hill). She disguised her real nature behind her fake, smarmy (that's interesting, smarmy was a word that had just this moment popped into mind. truly!) merriment so well, she fooled almost everybody. She has never fooled me, however. Behind all of the majesty (seems at odds with the other descriptive words) there was a glimpse of homeliness, firmly and deeply engraved in her by/from her distant past.

"Here we go. I'm a dead meat," popped up in into my head for a brief moment, while as she shook my hand.
Our hands skirmished for a second, when I refused an her assertive, rather arrogant and dominant/intimidating handshake. She had offered me her hand as if she thought I should kiss it her on the back of her palm

The Soapybook

Second tranche

"Hello dear!"
There was a patronizing shade/overtone/hint of patronisation in/to her otherwise happy voice.

"My precious darling! Hello!" I replied in hope hoping/expecting/assuming she can would sense at least a shadow of sarcasm in my voice.
If she did, she decided to ignore it.

"You know why I'm here, don't you? I've summoned a meeting last Monday, but you couldn't come. I hope you feel better now. You look better and well rested, that's for sure."
A tantalizing hint in her speech. A tiny hint. Almost unnoticeable, so thin.
"Yes, I know why you're here," I replied.
"Well, you're wrong! You have no idea why I'm here!"
She burst into laughter as if she had told a hilarious jest.

I've had prepared numerous responses, but a puzzled glare was not one of them.

To be continued.
