Durian Yesterday, during our dinner, my family talked about the gratitude of my patients toward me when I was inexperienced doctor. At that time, I worked for a government hospital. Thanks to my proper and compassionate patient care, I’ve earned my patients’ trust. One day, I worked in the hospital in the daytime, and I did my night shift on the same day. One of my patients went to see me for his follow-up visit. He gave me a durian. I remember that time, this type of durian cost very high, due to the fact that it has been available on sale for a short while. Moreover, my family really liked it. So, I put this durian in my private drawer in my internal medicine department. In the following morning, I still worked in the hospital. Early that morning, my colleagues came into that room to be ready to work. All were surprised by the smell of this fruit. Then, some of them tried to figure out where and whose it was. Finally, they guessed that the owner of this fruit was me, because I was the one who had stayed in the room since the previous day. Today, my nurse promised me that she will bring one durian to the clinic. I strongly stopped her from doing that since I know the smell is very strong and our foreign colleagues might not tolerate its smell.

Durian

Yesterday, during our dinner, my family talked about the gratitude of my patients toward me when I was an inexperienced doctor. At that time, I worked for a government hospital. Thanks to my proper and compassionate patient care, I’ve I had earned my patients’ trust.

One day, I worked in the hospital in the daytime, and I did my night shift too on the same day. One of my patients went came to see me for his follow-up visit. He gave me a durian. I remember at that time, this type of durian costs a lot very high, due to the fact that it has had been available on sale for a short while. Moreover, my family really liked it. So, I put this durian in my private drawer in my internal medicine department.

In the The following morning, I was still worked working in the hospital  Early that morning, when my colleagues came into that room to be get ready for to work. All were surprised by the smell of this fruit. Then, some of them tried to figure out where and whose it was. Finally, they guessed that the owner of this fruit was me, because I was the one who had stayed in the room since the previous day.

Today, my nurse promised me that she will bring one a durian to the clinic. I strongly stopped her from doing that since I know the smell is very strong and our foreign colleagues might not tolerate its smell.

"I was inexperienced." - here inexperienced is an adjective

"I was an inexperienced doctor"  Doctor is a thing, a noun, so it need a/an/the/this/... before.

I had - for past tense, you are talking about the past at the govt hospital

One day ... the same day - redundant

"at that time" - I don't know the rule for this

For expensive things you buy, we say: that "costs a lot", "is expensive", "is pricey"

I only hear "high cost" used in economics, like "high cost of living", "high costs of manufacturing" etc. I don't have a better explanation, just US usage I guess.

"had been" again you are discussing an event in the past

"In the following morning" sounds like during the whole morning, from sunrise to noon. "The following morning" just means sometime in particular.

"to get ready for work" is used so often, it is like an expression. We also say, "to get ready to go out" which means to get dressed, "let's get dinner ready",  "It's late, I need to get ready." which means go away!

"of this fruit" is redundant, we know durian is the subject

'a durian' means one of course, but 'one durian' emphasizes that there is one, as opposed to two, five, etc. It is a count. In this case you are not emphasizing the count. But here is an example: "She will bring only one durian", or "This week she brought one durian because last week two durians was too much to eat"
