What's wrong with Chinese education system? As we all know ,we (Chinese students )started learning English from grade 3 or even earlier nowadays but barely speak a simple sentence, not to mention communication. People say language atmosphere is so important for a language learner, which it kind of is. I totally agree. But I have this friend who is from Brazil changed my mind.He said they started learning English from elementary as well but they could speak English fluently after junior high. I was shocked by that.We both learned English as a second language and we were the same age. Why did we make a such difference in learning English？ I'm wondering what's wrong with Chinese education system? Why are Chinese people scared to talk?

I find Asian attitudes toward education are highly regimented. There is a massive emphasis on perfection, not "good enough". A lot of emphasis on rote learning too, which may work on passing an exam, and not good for an actual conversation.
