Words
A firm denial, a weak confession
That tremor in tone, those shuddered nods
It was bound to end, I knew it will
Waiting for the final call
Wonder if I even should’ve
Tried to give it my all
The uneasy laughter
Rings in my head
The long pauses grow longer
Is there more to be said?
And one day you’ll know I meant it
Each time I almost whispered it aloud
Yet I’ll try to keep it
Hidden away in a shroud
I say my prayers
I bow my head
I walk in line with the believers
No questions asked, no answers to give
I only seek solace in his name.
