Danger of Being Too Honest
Being honest is usually regarded as a good thing. However, being too honest is not a good thing; rather, it should be regarded as a dangerous thing for three reasons. First of all, it damages relationships. If an ugly person is dressed up and asks honest people how he or she looks today, honest people will say “You look ugly today”. This will hurt the ugly person’s heart because it is not what they wanted. By this way, being too honest damages relationships. Secondly, being too honest is not good for children as they growing up. There are things that children learn as they grow up and things that they should learn after they become a grown-up. For instance, if foster parents tell their grown-up children that they are adopted, their children will not think it as a bad thing; rather, they will thank their foster parents. In contrast, if foster parents tell their children in adolescence that they are adopted, their children will not take it properly; rather, they will wander. Finally, being too honest is bad for patients because it causes the Placebo Effect to disappeared. The Placebo Effect is an effective way to cure various diseases by patients’ belief that they are taking proper medicine. However, if doctors are too honest, patients know that it’s a fake medicine; in other words, this effect does not happen. Consequently, being too honest damages relationships, and is harmful to children’s growing up and bad for patients.
