Moving by subway in Bilbao The subway in Bilbao was constructed in 1995. There were many people against spending citizens' money on this because Bilbao is quite a small city, with a population not bigger than 350.000 pax, more or less. In addition, it has a good public transport system, that includes short and long distance trains, buses, taxis, a cable car, etc. The subway has just two lines, that share the same walk in the middle of the city. In fact, it can only be considered a subway at the area including the center of Bilbao and the nearest towns because from there on it is sky-opened. The subway resulted to be a success. In 2012, more than 87 million people took it. As a result, the pollution in Bilbao decreased, as many people decided to leave their cars at home.

Moving by subway in Bilbao

The subway in Bilbao was constructed in 1995. There were many people against spending citizens' money on this because Bilbao is quite a small city, with a population not bigger than 350,000, more or less. In addition, it (already) has a good public transport system, that includes short and long distance trains, buses, taxis, a cable car, etc.
The subway has just two lines and both share the same route in the middle of the city. In fact, it can only be considered a subway at the area including the center of Bilbao and the nearest towns because from there on it is sky-opened. ¿el metro va de Bilbao a otra ciudad? es un largo metro

sky opened- entiendo, es obvio, pero no estoy seguro como lo decimos en ingles, quizas "from there on (out) it ia above ground. Si "above ground" es la respuesta aquí
The subway turned out to be a success (better: the subway has been a success.) In 2012, more than 87 million people took it. As a result, the pollution in Bilbao (has) decreased, as many people decided to leave their cars at home.

Moving by subway in Bilbao

The subway in Bilbao was constructed in 1995. There were many people against spending public money on it because Bilbao is quite a small city, with a population of approximately 350,000. In addition, it has a good public transport system, that includes short and long distance trains, buses, taxis, a cable car, etc.
The subway has just two lines, though both share the same track (la vía) in the middle of the city. In fact, it can only be considered a subway in the area which includes the center of Bilbao and the nearest towns because from there on it goes over ground. (This is what we say in England when the underground trains leave their tunnels and continue the journey "open to the sky")
The subway has been a success. In 2012, more than 87 million people took it (This is not wrong, though I prefer - more than 87 million journeys were made). As a result, the pollution in Bilbao has decreased, as many people decided to leave their cars at home.

Fui a Bilbao en septiembre el año pasado, me gustó mucho.
