My friend the robot? Are you afraid of robots? I'm not, quite the contrary: I like technology and I'm fascinated to see how quick the development of robots progress. Some day, these machines will improve our standard of living in a great way. But is that really so? I mean, it would be great if a robot could handle dangerous or boring tasks for us, wouldn't it? But wait, what would happen if robots would manage all boring tasks for us? Take "working on an assembly line" as an example. What would the people working there right now do then? Probably "enjoying" a lot of free time in their unemployment. There was a study in a newspaper the other day stating that over 50% of all jobs in Germany are in danger because of robots. I was startled by that figure and I don't know if it is true, but what is true for sure is that many people without a decent education will have even more trouble to find a job in the future than they already have right now. Unions are relatively strong here in Germany. At present, it seems they obviously haven't noticed that there is a new enemy on the horizon, but I'm keen on seeing their reaction when they will become aware of it. Have you seen the TV series "Real humans"? There, robots are almost humane and do all unwanted tasks for us. Unfortunately the series doesn't shine a light on the unemployment problem, but I found myself often thinking "Yes, that could happen in a few years if we'll improve these machines any further" while watching the series. By the way: Perhaps it will be robots anytime soon who will correct our notebook entries here. Wouldn't that be sad???

My friend the robot?

Are you afraid of robots? I'm not, quite the contrary: I like technology and I'm fascinated to see how quick the development of robots will progress. Some day, these machines will improve our standard of living in a great way. But is that really so? I mean, it would be great if a robot could handle dangerous or boring tasks for us, wouldn't it?

But wait, what would happen if robots would were to manage all of our boring tasks for us? Take "working on an assembly line" as an example. What would the people working there right now do then? Probably "enjoying" a lot of free time in their unemployment.

There was a study in a newspaper the other day stating that over 50% of all jobs in Germany are in danger because of robots. I was startled by that figure and I don't know if it is true, but what is true for sure is that many people without a decent education will have even more trouble to find finding a job in the future than they already have right now.

Have you seen the TV series "Real humans"? There, robots are almost humane and do all of our unwanted tasks for us. Unfortunately the series doesn't shine a much light on the unemployment problem, but I found myself often thinking while watching the series, "Yes, that could happen in a few years if we'll improve we develop these machines any further." while watching the series.

By the way: Perhaps it will soon be robots anytime soon who will correct our notebook entries here. Wouldn't that be sad???

You write very well in English.  You understand English word order quite well.   I only made a few changes just to show you how one native English speaker (American) would say the same things.  Interesting thoughts on the impact robots will have on employment! Education will be really important!  But I still look forward to housekeeping robots!
