Caption I would like to practice English by the description of a picture. First of all, the left side of the picture is the woodwork called "窗花" in Chinese. It was carved with patterns and used as a inlay of the window or the door in ancient Chinese buidings. You may see the four corner patterns in the "窗花" . They are four plants called "梅(plum)、蘭(orchid)、菊、竹(bamboo)" in Chinese which stand for four gentlemen in Chinese traditional culture, "中國四君子". Of course, on the other side is another "窗花" I designed as a porch screen. It was inlaid in our cabinet but not just hung up on the wall as a simple decoration. There are 5 fish called "Koi", I'm not sure their name, in the center of the woodwork that signify having fortune. And absolutely you can recognize the outline of the woodwork is square and envolopes a circle that means the sky is round and the ground is square. In the middle of the picture, there is a New Year scroll written with 好運連年, the four Chinese characters mean to wish being lucky continuously(連) every year(年). (連 sounds similar to 年) Beside it, there is the decoration of firecrackers that are related to the ancient Chinese folk tale about Nian, New Year monster(年獸). Finally, in the top of the photo, there are wooden ducks and one pair of them were painted by our own. We used to be interested in painting the bare wooden ducks in one of tourism factories of Taiwan. Do you know these factories in Taiwan ever exported a large amount of the refined wooden decoration of the ducks a long time ago. Next time, join us for painting the lovely ducks!

Did you know these factories in Taiwan exported a large amount of the refined wooden decoration of the ducks to Europe a long time ago? And they were popular in Europe. I heard European before used the fake ducks to attract the real ducks gathering together, and then hunted for the wild ducks.
