Improving my writing skills. Hello italki community. Today I decided I should start writing more often in order to get better at English. I have struggled my writing skills for a long time now because I'm not used to reading and I do not write frequently (especially using pen and paper). I think the main issue with writing is not being able to express myself clearly and getting straight to the point. Sometime it feels like I spent too many words to express simple ideas or say simple things such as my daily routine or what I had for breakfast. When I asked a friend for advice, he told me that in order to write concise texts I should set a limit of words. He also said that I should use more phrasal verbs. I know that they can be very useful in many different situations, but I just don't feel comfortable using phrasal verbs. I'm not going to write a big text because I think on the internet people don't have time and patience to read too many words. That's it. If you spotted any mistake on this text, please let me know. Feel free to suggest changes and improvements. Do you have any advice of how to get better at writing? I would be happy to learn more about. Thank you in advance.

Improving my writing skills.

Hello italki community.

Today I decided I should start writing more often in order to get better at English. I have struggled with my writing skills for a long time now because I'm not used to reading and I do not write frequently (especially using pen and paper).

I think my main issue with writing is not being able to express myself clearly and getting straight to the point. Sometimes it feels like I waste too many words to express simple ideas or say simple things like my daily routine or what I had for breakfast.

When I asked a friend for advice, he told me that in order to write concise texts I should set a word limit. He also said that I should use more phrasal verbs. I know that they can be very useful in many different situations, but I just don't feel comfortable using phrasal verbs.

I'm not going to write a long text because I think people on the internet don't have the time or the patience to read too many words.

That's all. If you noticed any mistake in this text, please let me know. Feel free to suggest changes and improvements.

Do you have any advice of how to get better at writing? I would be happy to learn more about it.

Thank you in advance.

I'm guessing you want to practice an informal writing style? Things like "just" (as in "I'm just not comfortable") are common in daily life, but wouldn't be used in a formal essay.

This entry seemed concise to me. There's just a few sentences that could be reworded to sound more natural. As long as you do a lot of reading and writing, you'll start to get a better feel for what "sounds" correct.

If you write another entry, send me a message and I'll be happy to correct it.

I'm not going to write a big text because I think on the internet people just don't have time and patience to read too many words written by a stranger. So that's it.

Do you have any advice on how to get better at writing? I will be happy to learn more about.
