Trying to explain the origins of my name: اسمي
السلام عليكم! اسمي مَرضِيّة . معظم//أغلب العرب الكثير الذين كنت أتكلم (تكلّمت)معهم لا يعرف ما عرفوا/لم يعرفوا اسمي (The literal translitation could work too i.e لم يكن اسمي معروفا لهم//لدييهم...).
كنت مندهشة أولا لأنه اسم عربية إذن اعتقدت أن كل العرب عرفوا هذا الاسم.
(مَرضِيَّة) هو اسم مفعول والفعل الماضي ناقص هو (رَضِيَ). ومصدرها (الرِّضوان)
سأل أبي أستاذه عَن لاسمي عندما ولدت. اسم اختي ’راضِيَة‘ وهكذا هو سمّي لي سمّانِي ‘مَرضِيّة .

Most arabs who I've spoken to aren't familiar with my name.
I was surprised at first because it's an Arabic name and I thought that every Arab knew the noun/word/name.
Mardiyah is a 'passive (past) particle' and the 'verb in the past' is defective, it is (radiya) and its gerund is (al-ridwan) .... (I'm sure ;)
My father asked his teacher for my name when I was born. My sisters name is 'Raadia' so he named me 'Murdiyah' .

Murdiyah: I only read your beautiful name in the Quraán :) But I've never met anyone in my whole life with the same name. The way you write your name in English; make us pronounce it like this: مُرضية and it doesn't match the one mentioned in Quraán which has a "fathah" on the letter (م).
